This site was developed by parents of children attending a Bal Vihar program that generally meets every alternate Sunday during the school year. It draws upon their experience gained while serving as volunteer teachers, and incorporates teaching materials developed over several years.
We nurture some hope that the children will some day be able to speak, or at the very least, understand a basic Indian language. The natural curiosity of children ensures that they pick up words, accents and fragments of sentences from conversations with friends and relatives, the chatter at parties, and perhaps from Bollywood movies. Bal Vihar programs aim to teach languages in an organized way, and we developed these resources to help.
The development team was fortunate to be able to draw upon the expertise of consultants in eLearning solutions. It is maintained on a not-for-profit basis by Amicus, Inc. and Ravi Laljani. Development and hosting charges are paid for courtesy of Amicus, Inc. Bal Vihar Online acknowledges the contributions of Anya Nagarkar.
